Interaction Design
Telepresence robots enable remote interaction in physical environments using screens, cameras, and audio systems. These robots can be controlled via various digital devices, allowing users to move, observe, and participate remotely.
USYD interface design teaching group asked our team with designing an interface for new telepresence robots for a virtual museum visiting experience. The focus is on enhancing remote user interaction. The interface should facilitate intuitive navigation, interactive tours, and educational programs via a mixed reality headset.
The current design choosed the Apple Vision Pro as designated platform, providing a rich, engaging virtual museum experience.

User Research
Users of product consist of general remote art enthusiasts and art professionals, who use the platform to visit worldwide museums and interact with exhibits.
Based on the research, there are two major pain points:
- Accessibility Barriers: Time, distance, and economic factors prevent users from visiting museums in person, while online art resources are insufficient to meet people's artistic needs.
- Lack of interactivity and Immersive experience of the current digital art platforms or online museum tours.

- Breaking the geographical and financial barriers for remote participants.
- Overcoming limitations imposed by real-world conditions, such as geographical location, weather factors, and personal reasons.
- Serving as a green, low-carbon sustainable development solution
- Enhancing the interactivity and immersion of remote learning. Real-time video chats and two-way interactions enrich the remote learning experience, while high-definition detail capture and feedback can reproduce the true essence of art.
Competitor Analysis
- For museum visit experiences, I studied institutions like Hastings Contemporary, which use telepresence robots for virtual tours. This helped enhance the feasibility of my project design.
- In terms of interactive artwork, I examined VR art projects from Eyejack and Google Arts and Culture to understand potential interaction modes, ensuring my platform could support immersive exhibition experiences.
- I scheduled an Apple Vision Pro hands-on session to experience real-time gesture controls and eye-tracking systems, allowing me to create an interface tailored to the Vision Pro’s interaction model.
