02Background
Faint Signals
What-if
Imagine a world where employees are required to wear wristbands that track their emotional data, and this data is used to assess and score their emotional stability as part of their overall performance.
As a result, more individuals are seeking reliable options to manage and maintain emotional stability.

04Iterations & Improvements
Process
Creamouflage
Initially, our prototype centered around Creamouflage, a topical cream designed to suppress emotional responses discreetly. This concept explored innovative approaches to emotional regulation but leaned heavily into speculative design. Below....
Step 1: Preparation
- Make sure your skin is clean and dry before applying the cream, ensuring optimal absorption.
Step 2: Apply the Cream
- Squeeze a small amount of Creamouflage onto your fingertips.
Step 3: Mask Emotional Data
- Massage it into your skin where the emotional tracking bracelet typically sits (e.g., wrist).
Step 4: Discreet Disposal
- The effect of Creamouflage lasts for a few hours, however you can rinse the cream off with water to remove any traces of application (in case of spot check).
Why Social Media (Instagram):
- Go-to platform for future employees—people like us.
- With targeted ads, we can use behavioural data and interests to connect with individuals organically and subtly.
However, after receiving feedback, we recognized that changing the artefact would require us to iterate on both the user instructions and the advertisement. This shift prompted us to reimagine these aspects in a more grounded, practical context, enhancing relatability and making the concept more suitable for everyday office environments.
Mood-Cabinet
In this iteration, we shifted our concept from Creamouflage to the Mood Cabinet, a pantry fixture providing psychotropic drugs designed to discreetly suppress emotional responses. This change allowed us to explore a more grounded approach to emotional regulation, aligning closer to real-world applications and moving away from speculative design. By integrating the Mood Cabinet into a familiar office setting, the concept becomes more relatable and accessible, seamlessly blending into everyday workplace routines.....

After receiving valuable feedback from peers and tutors during the prototype fair, we gained new insights and recognized misalignments in certain aspects of our concept. This feedback has guided us in refining our prototype, ensuring a closer alignment with practical considerations and enhancing the relevance of our design within the office environment.
Calmadol
In the final iteration of our Mood Cabinet prototype, we refined the pill bottle packaging to add a layer of sophistication to our medication concept. By including detailed information on each package, users can now immerse themselves in the “What-if” experience simply by reading the dosage instructions, bringing an interactive and thought-provoking dimension to the product.
